| Awareness camp held on prevention, control of heart attacks | | | Srinagar, Feb 8 The Health department today organized an awareness camp at College of Education Srinagar in which eminent interventional cardiologist Dr U. Koul threw light on prevention and control of heart attacks. Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad, Deputy Director Dr. Abdul Hamid Shah, Doctors, academicians, intellectuals, journalists and people in good numbers attended the camp. Dr. U Koul dwelt at length on various aspects of heart ailment and its preventive measures. He said that sedentary lifestyle, food habits, lack of exercise and intake of liquor and smoking were the main causes. He said bringing about a change in the food habits, restricting intake of oily and fatty dishes, going for light exercise particularly walking and leaving smoking can help to a large extent to prevent this dreaded disease. The camp has been organized by the department as a part of its efforts to create awareness among the people regarding various ailments, their causes, preventive measures and other healthcare facilities available. |
