Jammu, Sept 10: He exploited and lured women all his life, entrapping many of them with a promise to marry them .He did solemnize four marriages during his life time till date, only to get exposed by the third one for his misdeeds. A 64 year old ex-serviceman (2nd Lieutenant) allegedly involved in polygamy hailing from Nowshera -Rajouri district was booked by Jammu and Kashmir Police after his third wife leveled charges of illegal confinement and forced abortion against him.
To one's surprise this aged polygamist had managed four marriages but this time he got entangled within trap when his third wife who levelled serious allegations of illegal confinement, forced abortion and illegal marriage. "He was booked by Channi Himmat Police Station under FIR No 77/2012 U/Ss 376, 493,344,506 RPC. After his arrest he was sent on 15 days judicial remand after he was produced in the local court today, police sources said.
According to police sources the 64 year old former soldier Balwant Singh son of Sardar Dewan Singh of Nowshera presently living at flat no 2 B, Sweet Apartment, Channi Himmat was nabbed after one of his wives dared him and accused him of keeping her in illegal confinement.
Police sources said, "It was revealed during the preliminary investigations conducted by SHO Channi Himmat Sub Inspector (SI) Deepak Pathania and SDPO East SS Sambyal that the ex serviceman was in the habit of luring away woman and exploiting them under the pretext of marrying them at a later stage.
According to police sources the accused has married four women and this time he ran out of luck after his third wife namely Gurpreet Kour lodged a complaint here in the Channi Himmat Police station leading to his arrest. The accused was married at the age of 28 with Jasbeer Kour daughter of Conservator JK Forest department Sohan Singh of Bakshi Nagar for the first time. However, later he managed to marry with a divorced school headmistress in Nowshera identified as Urmila Kumari. However, he took divorced from her after few years. Once again the Balwant Singh lured a girl namely Gurpreet Kour daughter of Gurbachan Singh of Model Town, Gangyal by projecting himself a affluent and well off person settled in Channi Himmat but a lone soul.
As the ill luck he would have, he confined her third wife illegally and arranged fourth marriage with 24 years old girl namely Ruby Sharma. Earlier, Ruby initially was shown as his foster daughter. But to end the poking of nose by the others over his relations with Ruby, Balwant Singh to avoid regular criticism from his neighbours, the duo managed to trap one Viay Kumar, a Class IV employee in PHE department in Nowshera. Vijay was forced to marriage with Ruby. After marriage the poor fellow Vijay was allegedly threatened of dire consequences if he ever comes back to Channi Himmat. "The episode of Vijay Kumar's marriage too was mentioned in Police investigating report, police sources said. |
