| Vilgam Police recovers Timber worth 4 Lakhs | | | Srinagar, Feb 8 Vilgam Police has seized about 116 sleepers and cut pieces of green Deodars valued around Rs 4 Lakhs, from forests in Tumina Vilgam in Handwara and registered a case in this regard. Vilgam Police received information that one Alif-ud-Din s/o Jamad Khan R/O Tumina Vilgam in connivance with Forest Guard Gh.Mohi-ud-Din had cut green Deodar tress in Compartment No 11-D and dumped it in Jungle at Tumina, to be smuggled out at convenience. On this information, a Police party of Vilgam Police headed by SHO Inspector Bashir Ahmed raided the spot and recovered 116 sleepers and cut pieces measuring up to 200Cfts. The value of the said timber is around 3.5 to 4 Lakhs, in the market. In this regard a case FIR NO: 06/2007 U/s 379, 109/RPC and 6 Forest Act has been registered in P/S Vilgam. However, the accused duo is absconding and efforts are on to nab them. Handwara Police recovers 7500 liters of Kerosene Srinagar, February 08: In a major success Handwara Police has recovered around 7500 liters of Kerosene, obtained from Army and other agencies which was to be black marketed in Handwara and adjoining districts. According to SP Handwara Dr Haseeb Mughal, Police received information regarding illegal storage and Black marketeering of Kerosene oil in the area. Acting on this information, a Police Party under SHO P/S Handwara, Inspector Syed Fayaz Ahmed intercepted a truck bearing Regt No: Jk03/6417 at Kulangam Handwara from which 35 barrels of illegal Kerosene oil amounting to 7500 liters were seized, he added. He further stated that four persons have been arrested in this connection, whom he identified as, Farooq Ahmed Ganai s/o Sonaullah Ganie R/O Chak Keegam Kupwara, Reyaz Ahmed Ganie s/o Mohammed Afzal R/O Chak Keegam Kupwara, Mohammed Shafi Magray s/o Ghulam Ahmed Magray R/o Chak Keegam Kupwara and Noor Mohammed Lone s/o Abdul Ahad Lone R/O Shadipora Kupwara. He said that a case FIR No: 38/2007, U/S 3/7 Essential Commodities Act has been registered in P/S Handwara, in this regard. SP further revealed that correspondence regarding this case has been made with Food & Supplies department as the Kerosene Oil was being brought from Army and other agencies. |
