| Mata Vaishnodevi shrine count till July 40.54 lakh | | |
KATRA, AUGUST 01 -A record number of over 40.54 lakh pilgrims from all over the country had visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji during the first seven month of the calendar year. During the corresponding period of last year 35.68 lakh pilgrims have visited the holy cave shrine, thus an increase of over 4.86 lakh pilgrims have been registered in the Yatra.
In the month of July alone, over 7.12 lakh devotees paid their obeisance at the holy cave shrines as compared to 6.72 lakh during the corresponding period of last year.
Presently 19,000 to 20,000 pilgrims are daily reaching at the base camp Katra for their onward journey to the holy cave shrine.
Besides other facilities refreshment like biscuits, cold drinks, tea, coffee, milk and mineral water are available all along the way from Banganga to Bhawan at refreshment units of the shrine Board. Most of thee are located at selected locations from where pilgrims can have a panoramic view of the area. These are also known as viewpoints. All the items offered at these viewpoints are on no profit basis.
The shrine board also runs catering units known as bhojonalyas at Katra, Adhkumwari, Sanji Chatt and Bhawan where full meals, a variety of other food items are available on no profit basis. |
