JU scholars register protest against erring teacher

The scholars of University of Jammu (JU) led by Vikas Sharma registered their protest against the yesterday’s episode, in which a Reader in Department of Economics allegedly demanded twenty thousand rupees from a scholar, at the administrative block of JU this morning. They also demanded stern against the erring teacher and streamlining of the process for PhD and M Phil.
The scholars, about 50 in number, called on Vice Chancellor and apprised him about the harassment meted out to some of the scholars by their respective guides. They demanded streamlining of the M Phil and PhD for time bound facilitation of research work by scholars. They also apprised VC that HoDs of the various disciplines are not utilizing the money in a better way. VC gave a patient hearing to the group of scholars and assured of action against the accused if found guilty. He also issued order to provide internet facility in all the Departments for the scholars. Sunil Sharma, Rakesh Chib, Ehsan Qureshi were also present during the protest.
