| CA &PD Udhampur realizes Rs.45000 as fine | | | UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 01 -On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O. P. Kalandria, the Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA & PD), Udhampur, holding additional Charge of Reasi Sub Division recovered a fine of Rs.45,000 from those found to be violating Essential Commodities Act during first three months of the current financial year.
He said that during the month of July, 2006 alone, Rs.14950 was realized as fine from 47 defaulters dealing in different trades in the district. Allotment of 13 Kerosene Oil Dealers including six in Udhampur town, four on Dhar road and three at Reasi has been suspended during the period, he added.
To make the functioning of the department more effective and result oriented, directions have been issued to Tehsil Supply Officers of the district to further streamline the public distribution system and submit weekly progress reports. They have also been directed to conduct frequent inspections of ration depots, kerosene oil dealers and shops in the market of their respective areas for strict adherence of Essential Commodities Act.
