| 153 Hajis selected for Haj pilgrimage in Udhampur | | | UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 01 - 153 Haj pilgrims of Udhampur district were selected for Haj pilgrimage-2006 by holding draw of lots in presence of intending haj pilgrims of the district.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. O. P. Kalandria, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mr. B.M. Sharma, Additional DDC, Udhampur, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Bhat and Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Mr. Virender Slathia were also present on the occasion.
A total of 164 applications of intending Haj pilgrims were received, out of which 153 were selected by holding qurrah against the available quota for district Udhampur while as four applications did not fulfill the guidelines. Seven applicants could not be selected due to non-availability of seats.
A list indicating the name and other particulars alongwith serial numbers was prepared in chronological manner on the spot soon after holding the qurrah and submitted to the office of Convenor, State Haj Committee, Srinagar.
Complimenting the selected Haj pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner informed that further instructions regarding the pilgrimage would be conveyed to them in due course of time. For the purpose, he asked concerned officers to keep close liaison with the intending Hajis and vice-versa.
Selected Hajis expressed their satisfaction for holding draw of lots under the personal supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur in a most transparent manner. |
