| AFTER GRENADES, PISTOL ATTACKS ARE ON | | | SRINAGAR, Aug, 1,: In another grim reminder regarding the prevailing situational disturbance in Kashmir, militants on Tuesday killed five security men in different attacks across the restive region. In separate incidents four militants were also killed and one Divisional Commander of prominent militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen was arrested. Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) organization has claimed responsibility for the attacks on troopers. At about 1135 hours two personnel of paramilitary CRPF were shot at from point blank range here at Dalgate, killing one Head Constable of 172 Bn Mohammad Abeesh Khan on the spot while another constable Kapil Kumar succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital. Public Relations Officer, CRPF, Dalip Singh Ambesh confirmed the two killings and divulging details about the incident he told KIP that the targeted duo belonged to Special Operations Group (SOG) of the CRPF. "Militants shot at our jawans at Dalgate by pistols from point blank range," he said. In a separate incident at around 1530 hours militants struck at Kak Sarai area of Srinagar city, killing two personnel of BSF. The deceased were identified as Head Constable Ram Avtar of 143 Bn and Constable Uday Sanjay of 39 Bn. The duo was reportedly purchasing medicines when the armed men fired at them from point blank range, police said, adding that Sanjay had fallen ill and was accompanied by Avtar to the hospital from Panthachowk. In both incidents militants managed to escape safe. In a telephonic call to a local news agency spokesperson of Jem Abu Qadama, claimed responsibility for both the incidents. Soon after these incidents took place Police assisted by security forces cordoned off the areas and launched a manhunt but no one was arrested. Elsewhere two militants bearing allegiance to Hizbul Mujahideen including a Pakistani and a policeman were killed in an overnight encounter at Chidipora in Shopian area of Pulwama district, Police said. The deceased Pakistani militant has been identified as Akash Pathan and his local accomplice as Aijaz Ahmad Dar. Two militants were killed in separate encounters at Durandhok and Solan-Marhote in Poonch district the previous night, Police said. Police also claimed arresting Divisional Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Fayaz Ahmad Dar alias Saleem Khan from Sopore. Dar, according to the Police, was longest surviving militant who had crossed over to Pakistan in 1990. Body of one civilian, who had gone missing since last two days, was found today. |
