| Congress hails the implementation of amended Roshini act | | | EARLYTIMES REPORTER JAMMU | FEB 10 All the Congress quarters have hailed the state government’s decision to confer ownership right of 100 kanals agricultural lands to the farmers. They have described it as an unprecedented step in the history of land reforms and a biggest gift of the century to the farming community of the state. According to a press handout issued by the Pradesh Congress Committee (pcc), the Amended Roshini Scheme is the bet legislation towards the socialistic welfare commitment of the party, as stated by the PCC Chief Peerzada Mohd Sayeed in a press conference here today. He said that over 16 lacs kanal of land belonging to the state is being transferred in ownership to the farmer. This act is altogether different from the all land reforms in the past like Big Landed Estate Abolition Act 1950 and Agrarian Reforms Act 1976, he added. He further congratulated the farming community and said that the step will save them from continuous exploitation in the hands of corrupt officials. PCC vice president Yashpaul Khajuria and spokesperson Ravinder Sharma were also present. Similarly the J&K Pradesh Congress Legal and Human Rights Department has also hailed the Roshini Legislation and described it as land mark step of the government. In a meeting of Department held here under the chairman ship of advocate KK Pangotra, the department described the step of government as revolutionary. Meanwhile, JKPCC Minority Department in a meeting chaired by MLC S Arvinder Singh Micky and chairman of the department, welcomed the decision of the government. Among others who attended the meeting are S Vikram Singh, Sntosh Mangotra, Sudesh Kumar, Abdullah Jan, SPS Raina and Padeep Jain. Likewise, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Shahidi Chowk in a joint statement of MP Mohd. Aslam, Madan Lal Sharma and Lal Singh have hailed the decision of the government. They congratulated the chief minister for saving the agriculturalists from the exploitation. MLA Buddal Darhal has also welcomed the Roshini Legislation and said that the people in far flung areas will be benefited Meanwhile, President Bakerwals Union district Rajouri has said that the decision will benefit the nomadic community as most of the members of community were with out any land of their own.
