| Two unidentified militants killed in Shopian | | |

SRINAGAR | FEB10 :
Two unidentified militants were killed in a joint operation of Police Shopian and Rashtriya Rifles here today.
According to reports, on receiving specific information regarding presence of militants at Chak Choolan in Shopian, the operation was launched by cording of the area. The militants who were hiding in a house tried to brake open the cordon by firing on the troops.
In the brief encounter two unidentified militants, suspected to be of LeT carders were killed. In this gunfight one civilian namely Nazir Ahmad Shah son of Hyder Shah Resident of Chak Choolan Shopian was also killed.
Security personnel have recovered 2 AK 56 rifles, 8 magazines and 176 rounds from the militants. Their identity was yet to be ascertained till the last reports came.
Meanwhile, during a search operation in the Marsari forests Kralpora under the jurisdiction of Police Station Trehgam, Police Kralpora and 138 Medium Regiment Army recovered 01 AK 56 rifle, 03 magazines, 148 rounds, 01 Radio Set, 16 UBGL grenades (which were destroyed on spot), 02 Mortar shells (which were destroyed later on) and 01 IED from a militant hideout. The hideout was also destroyed. Case has been registered in this regard.
