| Machail yatra to run for full month this year: Gupta | | ‘Elaborate boarding, lodging arrangements for devotees’ | | JAMMU FEB 10-
The famous Machail Yatra of Mata Chandi in Padder Valley of Doda district, commencing from middle of August, would be of one month’s duration against a fortnight earlier.
Bansi Lal Gupta Organizer disclosed this to media persons here today. He said that keeping in view the heavy influx of pilgrims and their persistent demand for extending the Yatra period, it has been decided to run the yatra for one full month this year.
He said the Yatra starting from middle of August this year would be attended by a large number of pilgrims both within and outside the State. The devotees shall travel in buses up to Atholi Gulabgarh, while a 30 KM stretch up to the abode of Mata Chandi (Machail) shall have to be covered by foot.
Gupta said that a staunch devotee of Mata Maha Chandi, Thakur Kulbir Singh, some 30 years back, had taken out the first yatra with just 25 pilgrims from Chinta Bhaderwah and this number has now touched 60,000.
He said that people have revered faith on this Yatra as those suffering from deadly
Chronicle diseases are miraculously cured.
The Sarva Shakti Sevak Sanstha, which undertakes the annual Machial Yatra, is making all necessary arrangements for boarding and lodging at different halting stations for the intending devotees besides highlighting the miracles of Goddess Chandi, Gupta added..
