| Ministers, others hail ‘Roshni’ | | | JAMMU | FEB 10 Ministers, political leaders, social organizations and general public have lauded the decision of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for new Roshni Scheme, conferring free ownership rights to the farmers on state land occupied by them for agriculture purposes. The Bill to this effect presented by Chief Minister in the Legislative Assembly in amended form yesterday was passed by the House, sending jubilation waves amongst farmers throughout the state. Highlighting the main features of the Bill and hailing the bold and historic decision of Mr. Azad, the Ministers have said that the new Roshni scheme is a revolutionary step, unprecedented and historic since 1950 and is yet another feather in the cap of Mr. Azad. The Ministers have said that such bold step under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Azad deserves appreciation at all levels, which envisages bringing khushali in households of cultivators, comprising 80 percent of the state population. The Ministers who have hailed the move include Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar, Minister for Transport Mr. Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Minister for Finance Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra, Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for CAPD Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for R&B Mr. Ghulachain Singh Charak, Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali, Minister for Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Minister for Forests and Urban Development Mr. Qazi Mohammad Afzal, Minister for Rural Development Mr. Jugal Kishore and Ministers of State Mr. Babu Singh, Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Peer Mohammad Hussain, Prem Sagar Aziz, Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma, Mr. Manjit Singh, Mr. Javid Mustafa and chairmen of various corporations. The Coordination Committee Ramgarh while appreciating the decision, describing the amended Roshni Act as an unprecedented legislation and much beyond that of land to tiller Act. People took out a large rallies in Ramgarh area organized by the Coordination Committee Ramgarh. The rally led by JKPCC General Secretary and Member Legislative Assembly Ashok Sharma passed through main market Ramgarh raising pro government slogans. Similarly senior Congress leader, Mr. Sajjad Shaheen of Banihal while congratulating the Chief Minister on passing of historical Roshni amendment Act by Legislative Assembly said that the Bill would go a long way in removing poverty among the farmers community of the state. Describing it a historical moment for the people of the state, he said the vesting of the ownership rights on state land being cultivated by the farmers has come as great relief to this downtrodden section of the society. |
