| Legislature presents unique example of work culture: Azad | | | Jammu | Feb 10 Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad while speaking on the conclusion of budget session in Legislative Assembly today said that extensive and tireless participation of legislators in legislature business is a unique example of new work culture set in place for last over one year. He said the hardworking and active participation in mind blowing and hectic sessions from morning till midnight some times speaks very high of the work culture and keenness of the legislators to perform the responsibility people have entrusted to them. Mr. Azad said constitution of committee system in conducting legislative business as proposed by leader of opposition Mr. A. R. Rather would be actively considered. He said, he as Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister has introduced the system in the parliament which is presently in vogue. Saying that heated discussions are the signs of democracy and legislators have nothing personal when such heat generates, he said this heat evaporates within shortest possible time and nothing is carried outside the House. Mr. Azad lauding the role of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, describing them real heroes and men of the match as they conducted the House in highly democratic and impartial manner. Praising opposition for the cooperation in the conduct of the business, Chief Minister said that he has seen many opposition parties but the one in Jammu and Kashmir is unique and different as it sat in the House throughout the proceedings and were mainly responsible for maintenance of quorum. He also lauded the role of the legislators from treasury benches and those supporting the government giving a special word for chief whips of Congress and PDP. Referring to the humorous behaviour of Mr. Sharief-ud-Din Shariq, Chief Minister said that his humorous remarks used to end the monotony and acted as tonic to activate the members. Presenting a verse of Mirza Galib to Mr. Shariq, Chief Minister said “kitney sheereen hain tere lab ki ae raqeeb galian kha kha key bemaza na hooa” meaning oh! my opponent how sweet your lips are; that even your rebukes did not distaste my mouth.
