| Haji visits Amritsar, Chandigarh arts emporia | | | JAMMU | Feb 10 As an endeavour to make J&K Arts Emporium more viable and profit generating, the Chairman, J&K Handicrafts Development Corporation, Haji Abdul Rasheed today visited Arts Emporiums at Amritsar and Chandigarh and took stock of the working of the both branches. Managing Director of the Corporation accompanied the Chairman. Haji Rasheed, while interacting with the employees of the branches, said that time has come to make the Corporation self reliant rather relying on Government budgetary support. He impressed upon the staff of the branches to work with full dedication, so that target fixed are achieved within the stipulated time. The Chairman assured that adequate stock of handicraft items would be provided to both the showrooms, particularly, at Amritsar to cater the day to day requirements of the branches. He said that Kashmiri handicrafts are famous in the world, so every effort should be made to take its best advantages at every showrooms and make it more popular. Haji Rasheed said that Amritsar Showroom would be renovated within three months to make it more attractive and run on professional basis. He directed the Managing Director to prepare the project of renovation, so that funds are allocated accordingly. Chairman said that Rs. 22 lac have already been spent on the renovation work of Chandigarh Emporium and additional Rs. 1.25 lac are being provided for construction of storing facility for the Emporium. Haji Rasheed said that for promotion of Khatamban Ceiling art at national and international level, its samples would be put on display at all major branches of the Arts Emporium spread all over the country. |
