| Surpal’s painting exhibition inaugurated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | AUG 1 A painting exhibition of Surpal Singh Slathia was inaugurated by Director of School education and member of Cultural Academy D.K Vaid at Master Sansar Chand Gallery, Kala Kendra here today. The Painter Surpal Singh born on 29th of October 1978 completed his degree in Painting in 2003 from institute of Music and Fine Arts of Jammu and Masters Degree from the department of Painting Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan in 2006. A sole exhibition of his paintings was also organized by J&K Academy of Jammu in 2004 .Besides, this he has been awarded first prize in professional category in 4th north zonal Camlin Art Foundation Competition, 2003. While speaking on this occasion the Chief Guest Darshan Darsi said that he has been fascinated by the artistic qualities of Surpal which have been pre- occupied with daily life and environment which is intimately related to him. His lines, use of colurs and the aesthetic expression exposed with ease which shows talents as an upcoming artist. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary J&K Cultural Academy Dr. Masoodi said that the academy is shortly organizing a camp for the artist in collaboration with Lalit Kala Academy and Sangeet Kala Academy. He further said Academy is planning ti held painting workshop in which artists from U.K. Switzerland, Australia etc countries are expected to participate. In addition to a good number of artists from different parts of country will also participate. Mohan Singh father of Surpal Slathia was also present on the occasion and feel happy when people present on the occasion praised the work of this young artist.
