| 10 lakh children covered under 2nd phase of Pulse Polio Immunization | | | Srinagar, February 11 In connection with the second phase of National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme about 10 lakh children in the age group of 0 to 5 years were administered polio drops in 6 districts of the valley besides Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region. For this purpose, 4771 centers were set up and 19062 medical and paramedical personnel were deployed. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Basharat Ahmed launched the programme in the valley by administering the polio drops to a newly born child in Gousia Hospital Khanyar. Later, He visited Sub District Hospital Pampore and took stock the arrangements made for the success of the programme. He was accompanied by Director Health Services Kashmir, Assistant Director Family Welfare and Immunization besides CMO’s Srinagar. In Pulwama district, the DDC administered the polio drops to a newly born twin babies at district hospital Pulwama while the DDC Kupwara administered the polio drops to a one hour old baby at Sub District Hospital Kupwara. Similarly, the DDC Anantnag administered the polio drops to a child at District Hospital Anantnag. About 1.89 lakh children were covered under the programme in Anantnag district, 5.34 lakh children in Budgam and Baramulla and 20,000 children in Leh and Kargil Districts. |
