| Mountain ranges in Kashmir get snowfall, Jammu lashed by rains | | | Jammu, Feb 11 High altitude mountain ranges surrounding Kashmir valley had light to moderate snowfall while the plains, including Jammu city, have been lashed by intermittent rains. Famous hill resort of Gulmarg, Sheshnag and Chandanwari on Pahalgam-Amarnath route experienced light to moderate snowfall last night, official sources said today. However, the night temperature in Srinagar was five degree above normal. Minimum temperature in the city which recorded 3.1 mm rainfall till 0830 hrs today was 4.4 degree celsius, Met office said. Jammu was lashed by heavy rains, a spokesman of the weather office said adding Jammu recorded 36.4 mm of rainfall till 0830 hrs today. The night temperature in Jammu was 11.4 degree celsius. Qazigund, Banihal, Batote, Katra and Bhaderwah on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway also received rains ranging between 9.6 and 29.3 mm triggering a landslide at Panthal area this morning temporarily disrupting traffic, officials said. However, the traffic on the arterial road was resumed within 45 minutes due to the timely action by the personnel of Border Roads Organisation, they said. The highway is the only surface link between Kashmir and rest of the country. Traffic on the road has been restricted to one-way for the past few months. Vehicles from Jammu are on way to Srinagar today, a spokesman of the traffic control said.
