| 2000 liters of diesel seized | | |
Srinagar, February 12
Continuing it’s tirade against the black marketers, Handwara Police has seized around 2000 liters of High Speed Diesel and registered a case in this regard.
According to SP Handwara, Dr. Haseeb Mughal, a special Police party of P/S Handwara seized 12 barrels of high speed diesel, totaling to 2000 liters from Marathgam in Handwara.
The diesel had been dumped by one Farooq Ahmed Kaboo s/o Ghulam Rasool Kaboo of Marathgam for black-marketing and was being sold at exorbitant rates to Tippers, buses and TATA Sumos.
He said that police station Handwara has registered a case FIR No: 40/2007, U/S 3/7 Essential Commodities Act in this regard and started efforts to nab the culprit, Farooq Ahmed, who is absconding.
He added that Correspondence in this regard has also been made with local IOC outlets to establish the source of Diesel as there are apprehensions that the seized stock has been illegally obtained from Army.
This effort of Handwara police has been appreciated by locals especially transporters of the area and has set a deterrence for other black marketers. |
