JAMMU, Oct 9: Even as there has been no let up in Pak shelling on the 192-km International Border (IB) here, India has toughened its stand and told the neighbouring country that there will be no peace talks with it till it stops firing. BSF IG, Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma said the Pak Rangers overnight fired mortars and bullets, targeting all the 63 Indian BoPs on the 192-km IB from Kathua to Akhnoor. "There was, however, not much loss on our side except for injuries to 2 to 3 BSF personnel and 5 to 6 civilians," he added.

Jammu leaders need to think beyond party politics | Regional Council for Jammu | | Rustam
JAMMU, Oct 9: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma Wednesday again reiterated that he stood for the Dogra identity, regional council for Jammu province and end of the Kashmiri domination. "For how long Jammu will continue to play second fiddle to Kashmir and only think of the post of Deputy Chief Minister? Why not a Chief Minister from here? I had to face opposition within the party for my 'bold' postures on regional council and Hindu Chief Minister. Jammu leaders would have to admit whatever he had said on these issues. RS PURA (JAMMU), Oct 9: Go to any forward region here, you will find everyone discussing the accuracy with which Pakistan has this time hit its targets. This dominates their discussion. Acquaintances will share the "secrets", which otherwise are talk of the town, while others would take you as aliens and try to maintain a distance from you. This is the scene in every border village here.
"You know, this has happened for the first time in my lifetime. I have never seen Pak shells hitting targets in villages with such an accuracy. I doubt someone has apprised Pakistan of the exact location of houses and other important buildings in the Indian border villages. If it turns out ... | |
