NC, PDP fear new faces could replace 'family rule' in J&K
10/10/2018 10:30:59 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 10: Assertion of Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik that the foreign educated young man could be the new Mayor of Srinagar city has created ripples in the National Conference camp. Last month NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu had resigned from the party to contest the municipal polls in the Valley. He had disagreed with the decision of the NC leadership to boycott the municipal and panchayat polls in the state. Mattu saying goodbye to National Conference had triggered speculations that second rung leaders in PDP and NC would follow the suit. "The exact number of people who deserted NC and PDP would come to fore only after the results of these elections are announced," said a source. He said that Mattu is not the only leader who deserted his party. "Picture will become clear soon," the source added. An analyst said that since the day PDP-BJP government has fallen in the state the thrust is being laid on introducing new faces in the political arena of the Kashmir Valley. "If the people at the helm succeed in roping in new people it would be a...

10/9/2018 11:23:26 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 9: Kashmir witnessing a low polling percentage in the first phase of Urban Local Bodies polls is an indication that people of the Valley are not interested in development and empowering the grass root institutions. On the other hand Jammu and Ladakh regions witnessed brisk polling as people came out in large numbers to elect the counselors. "Kashmiri people not coming out to exercise their franchise should serve as an eye opener for the people who just keep on harping about Kashmir and leave no stone unturned to appease the Kashmir centric leaders and parties," said an analyst.
