Police 'shield' political workers, who attempted rape; Victim without salary for one year

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 4: A year since five workers of a political party who attempted to rape a woman in Rajouri district, the accused continue to move around freely while the victim and her family are being victimized by the authorities. In October last year, Nancy (name changed), of Lamberi village of Nowshehra tehsil, had visited an adjoining area for some work, where she was abducted by five vehicle-borne men who attempted to rape her. But luck favored the middle aged woman, who managed to flee from "clutches of the beasts" and rushed straight to police station Rajouri. As per her husband, she complained before the police that the activists of a political party attempted to rape her. Though the police subsequently filed a case vide FIR number 524/2015 of 2015, to the shock of the victim and her family the police registered a case of eve-teasing, a not so serious offence.
