NC’s SMC move shocks PDP, PC
Cracks surface in Gupkar lobby
11/19/2020 1:05:50 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: Even as the National Conference senior leader Salman Sagar is set to contest municipal elections for Srinagar Municipal Corporation from two wards of the city, the move has allegedly shocked the Peoples Democratic Party and the Peoples Conference. Sources said the PDP headed by Mehbooba Mufti and Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone have expressed reservations over the NC’s decision to make its senior leader contest elections for the SMC without taking the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar declaration into confidence. Sources said the NC looks ahead to vote for Salman as the new Mayor of SMC. The chair of Mayor was left vacant after a no confidence motion was passed by the councilors against Junaid Mattoo earlier this year. Sources said the PC leaders have said that if the Mayor was previously from their party, the NC should have given the same party the chance to retain the chair. Sources said the PDP leaders have also expressed resentment that the party should have been taken into confidence before the NC having selected its candidate “without an...

11/19/2020 1:05:36 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: Absence of former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad from J&K’s political scenario amidst the clamour for the forthcoming District Development Council elections has raised a valid question i.e. whether the veteran politician is still a Congress man? Sources within the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) divulged that Azad’s absence is deeply being felt within the camp by the leadership. However, if sources are to be believed, Azad is taking no interest in the DDC polls which are being fought jointly by the Congress with the PAGD. “The truth is that Azad sahib is not attending any meetings. Adjusting’ outsiders in DDCs elections: BJP facing revolt at several places
11/19/2020 1:05:20 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: As many deserving and dedicated workers were ignored only to adjust “influential and Bahubali” candidates of other parties, the disciplined BJP is facing revolt ahead of the District Development Councils (DDCs) elections. Instead of giving mandates to dedicated and committed workers, BJP leadership has given party tickets to some influential leaders with “money and muscle powers” who are habitual of joining one after another party. Highly placed sources said that there was strong resentment among committed party workers against, what they alleged, the wrong distribution of tickets. “At many places parachute leaders from other parties were accommodated ...

11/19/2020 1:04:55 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir have slammed the Congress party describing it as an apologetic party whose agenda is set by BJP. The scathing attack came after the Congress announced it is not part of the Political Alliance for Gupkar Declaration. “The state of Congress today is that it’s an apologetic party whose agenda is set by BJP. They want you to support them against BJP’s aggression but will leave you alone when it actually comes to taking action. That has been the case with Muslims in general and Kashmir in particular. They do not have the courage to counter BJP’s false narrative on their own. All it takes BJP to shut any opinion down ...

11/19/2020 1:04:47 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: By reviewing implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act 2006 in J&K, the chief secretary, BVR Subramanyam today showed mirror to Mehbooba Mufti for her “dubious” role in supporting STs of the erstwhile state of J&K.
