| Former militants give ‘cover fire’ to SFA scam | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 5: Even as State Football Academy established during the previous Peoples Democratic Party regime has come under the scanner for “gross financial irregularities, some former militants are accused of defending those involved the scam.”
Source said while the government agencies are looking into the complaints of “major scam” at the SFA, the role of “at least two former militants hailing from Srinagar, who had surrendered in 1990s have been supporting those involved in the scam and against whom numerous complaint were sent to the concerned officials.”
“What needs to be seen is that how come former militants were calling the shots and were close to the persons who are seen as major beneficiaries of the SFA scam,” said a source privy to the details of the alleged scam.
Sources said the matter of “large scale financial irregularities at the SFA since the PDP led government was in power have come to the notice of the corridors of power in New Delhi.”
