Former militants give ‘cover fire’ to SFA scam

Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 5: Even as State Football Academy established during the previous Peoples Democratic Party regime has come under the scanner for “gross financial irregularities, some former militants are accused of defending those involved the scam.” Source said while the government agencies are looking into the complaints of “major scam” at the SFA, the role of “at least two former militants hailing from Srinagar, who had surrendered in 1990s have been supporting those involved in the scam and against whom numerous complaint were sent to the concerned officials.” “What needs to be seen is that how come former militants were calling the shots and were close to the persons who are seen as major beneficiaries of the SFA scam,” said a source privy to the details of the alleged scam. Agencies New Delhi, Nov 5: The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Abbas Ansari, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party MLA from Mau and son of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, in a money laundering case, officials said on Saturday. Abbas Ansari, 30, was arrested after a long questioning session at the federal agency’s office in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, they said. He has been arrested in the money laundering case being investigated against his father and family, they said. Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 5: A live mortar was defused at a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday, officials said. Some labourers found the unexploded mortar shell while digging at Ajote village and informed the police, they said.
