Early Times Report Jammu, June 10: Though the Governor's administration has taken some bold steps against corruption in various institutions in the state, the issue of illegal backdoor appointments in the highest institution of power mandated to make laws, that is, the Legislative Assembly, has so far remained untouched. The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) had proved the case way back in 2016, involving 37 backdoor appointments made by three speakers of Congress-National Conference government-Tara Chand, Mubarak Gul and Mohammad Akbar Lone-in the Legislative Assembly secretariat during their tenure. But so far no action has been taken. The SVO in its preliminary enquiry had established that no procedure was followed by the three former Speakers while making 37 appointments in Legislative Assembly. The SVO had concluded in its report that 28 appointments were made Akbar Lone, who is now a Member Parliament. Five appointments were made by the then speaker Tara Chand, who is a senior Congress leader, while Mubarak Gul during his tenure had made four illegal appointments. In its...
