Jammu, July 6: Yet in another instance of pilferage of nutrition meant for children has come to fore as the ration meant for an Anganwadi centre is being allegedly sold in the market. Former Sarpanch Trith Ram informed Early Times that the nutrition meant for children, at Aanganwari centre Nahoti, ward number eight of Tehsil Sunderbani is being sold in market. "Not a single children in the ward, where centre is located getting nutrition. As the entire supply is being used by the centre in-charge for her family and rest being sold in the market", he said, adding that the residents have raised objection over the pilferage of ration time and again but nothing has been done by concerned Child Project Development Officer and mess is continue. "Centre is not serving its purpose, as not a single gram of diet has been given to children residing in the ward", the ex sarpanch said, adding that even the residents don't know about the centre established in their area. Panch, Tirth Ram, who belongs from same village said that nobody knows where ration/ nutrition worth thousands of rupees, goes. "Since there is no check, the malpractice is going unabated", he alleged, adding that it seems that there is a nexus between center incharge and senior officers. However, Former Sarpanch and Panch said that they have taken up the matter with Sub District Magistrate and assured that action would be taken. When contacted, Nowshera Harbans Lal Sharma, who is also holding charge of SDM Sunderbani said that he had order an enquiry into the matter. "After receiving a complaint from the residents, I have asked CDPO Nowshera and CDPO Sunderbani to submit the report. As and when report received by his office, action, if some found guilty will be taken", he added. |
