NC stoops to regain public support, double speak is new strategy
10/16/2015 11:41:57 PM
Jammu, Oct 16: Stooping low for regaining the support of people, the main opposition National Conference has devised a new strategy of resorting to double speak in J&K, which is already divided over regional and ethnic lines. Under the new strategy, sources said, a hardliner pro -separatist approach has been adopted by the party in Kashmir Valley while in contrast, a secular image of NC is being projected in Jammu region to befools people of both the regions. While NC working president Omar Abdullah is commanding the party in Valley, father Farooq Abdullah is busy in Jammu with his ever known style of visiting all religious gatherings and making nationalist statement. While elaborating, sources informed that the new strategy of resorting to extreme double speak was devised by the party leadership following recent beef controversy, which further widened the gap between Jammu and Kashmir regions amidst some unwanted incidents and even violence. As Omar Abdullah and Valley based NC leaders took a clear stand for lifting ban on ban in the State within thinking over the reaction in other parts, sources said that Jammu based party leaders approached Dr Farooq Abdullah and sought his intervention for a face saving to them. Further, sources added, both senior and junior Abdullah also realized that attempt to appease a particular section or region would severely damage NC in other region and community. Therefore, a well planned strategy was adopted by the party, which virtually handed over the control of NC to son Omar Abdullah in Kashmir and father Farooq in Jammu for taking care of the people of both the regions as per their religious sentiments, explained a Jammu based senior NC leader on the condition of anonymity. As per the strategy, Farooq Abdullah is scheduled to be in Jammu for maximum time in the forthcoming day, during which he is understood to be seen frequently visiting religious Jagratas of Mata Vaishno Devi and Ram Leela in the city of temples, sources added.
