Locals provide food to security personnel during Sunjawan encounter
Jammu's strong nationhood on display again!

Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 11: In yet another display of love for the nation and respect for the men in uniform fighting for the honour of the country in Jammu and Kashmir, people of Jammu turned up outside the Sunjwan brigade headquarters on the outskirts of the city with food and refreshments for the soldiers who were fighting the coward Pakistani terrorists had sneaked into residential quarters and were targeting the unarmed families of the Armymen.
On Saturday, as the news of cowardly attack of Pakistani militants broke, the residents pooled their resources and assembled outside the Sunjwan military base, serving meals, tea, snacks and water to hundreds of people, mostly police and paramilitary personnel and scribes, camping outside the main gate.
"It's a small effort on our part... We wanted to do something and decided to provide tea and snacks to the security forces deployed outside and to the mediapersons," said Sanjeev Manmotra, who was leading the initiative.
"They (security forces) are sacrificing their lives to ensure our safety and it is our responsibility to do whatever possible to help them especially in such a situation," Manmotra, state president of Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch, said.
He said their effort was also aimed at sending a message to the misguided youth in the Kashmir Valley who target security forces with stones during anti-terrorist operations.
The pictures of how the men and women, young and old came out in open near the Surjawan camp and offered food and water to the soldiers have become viral on social media, inviting applaud from all corners of the country for depicting the real face of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
"This is simply majestic and heart warming to see the people of Jammu coming out to assist army in whatever way they can. This is the real identity of the people of J&K that needs to be shown to the world," a netizen wrote on social media.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has also acknowledged and saluted this spirit of people of Jammu. "I am truly inspired by the way people of Jammu are leading their lives," Chief Minister had said while speaking at a function at SKICC on February 18, 2017. She added that she was dazzled to find Kashmiris roaming free in the Jammu markets and students from Valley seeking coaching there. "Jammu has become a model for a pluralistic society and this is what is needed at this hour- brotherhood, love and respect for other faiths- this is the only way to achieve success and prosperity overall," Mehbooba Mufti had said last year.
