Early Times Report

KUPWARA, Feb 12: Even on the fourth day of mourning no official from district administration has visited the family of slain army men, of this border district who laid their lives in an encounter that erupted in Sunjwan area of Jammu on Feb 9.

Aijaz Ahmad brother of Slain Soubidar told early times that, my brother was on duty from past three months; in the afternoon of Feb 9 we heard that encounter was raged in Sunjwan area where he was posted.

The deceased Ashraf was the only bread earner in our family; we have a joint family of fifteen members and now our dreams are shattered, there is no body to look after this family, said Aijaz.

A brave officer of Jammu Kashmir Light Infantry (JKLI) 1st Bn, had left for his duty on Dec 7, after he had returned on the marriage ceremony of his younger brother Aijaz Ahmad.

From past three days, no official from the administration including police has not visited here to console us, we have lost our son in the line of duty who laid his life for the country and that has perhaps not vibrated the government yet.

While as the almost 13 people are working in different forces in the family of late Habibullah Qureshi who also lost his life in the line of duty in Sunjwan area of Jammu division.

We are proud of him as he fought bravely with the militants and got martyred, it was his destiny and nobody could have stopped that. We are scared of this bullet and blood that has took the lives of hundreds and thousands of people, Haji Amanullah Qureshi told early times correspondent.

The deceased Habibullah Qureshi, Havaldar of JKLI 1st BN had called his mother at 11:00 am in the morning and said that, “encounter broke out here in Sunjwan area, but you need not to worry, I am ok and you all take care of yourselves, and dropped the call, said old aged father, Haji Ammanullah.

He (the deceased) was on marriage of his relative here on Nov 13 and left back to join his duty on Nov 22. We were not aware that it would be perhaps last met with him, said Maternal Uncle, Mohammad Shafi Qureshi.

They said that, only officers of 41 RR visited here to console us, where as we have been left at the mercy of God as nobody from district administration has visited here so for.
