JYF seeks judicial inquiry against wrong- doings of VC in ARs selection process

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 14: For fear of bad repercussions while complying with the resolution passed in University Syndicate meet held in Jan' 2016 to refer the case related to wrong-doings in Assistant Registrars (ARs) selection process, which was abandoned at final stage, to Crime Branch for thorough investigation, the Jammu University took the matter in the shape of Agenda Item 80.36 in the 80th Council Meeting held in April last year wherein the resolution of the Syndicate was nullified.
Addressing the press-conference here today, President Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) Deepak Kumar said, that according to agenda of Syndicate's meeting, the matter was to be investigated by Crime Branch. To get the matter thoroughly investigated vis-à-vis the lapse that has occurred regarding issuance of the interview call letter to the candidate, who had not appeared in the entrance test, the same be referred to the Crime Branch.
He said that Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma, who ordered the cancelation of selection process for the post of Assistant Registrars (ARs) as his daughter was also among the candidates and failed to qualify for interview phase, knew well that he would be exposed if Crime Branch would start investigation in the case so he better thought it to take the matter in Council and get it dashed on some fictitious ground.
The minutes of the Council reads vis-à-vis Item No 80.36 "Resolved also that the decision w.r.t. getting the matter thoroughly investigated and reference of the matter to the Crime Branch vis-à-vis the lapse that has occurred regarding the issuance of the interview call letter to the candidate, who had not appeared in the entrance test, be dropped."
Deepak pointed out that the matter of referring the case to Crime Branch as resolved in Syndicate meeting had become a source of headache for the Vice Chancellor for his own wrong doings, the university invented a ploy to take the shelter of University Council hoodwinking the supreme forum to have the controversial resolution dropped. "What is astonishing that the said item was placed before Syndicate without complete history of the matter which speaks of grossly casual approach of administration intended to buy time and procrastinate the issue involving daughter of the Vice Chancellor who reportedly fell much behind the well merited candidates emerged after entrance test for the interview of Assistant Registrar in Kathua Campus," he revealed.
He demanded that government must take cognizance of the matter and order independent judicial inquiry commission to expose the wrong-doings of the Vice Chancellor and his coterie. He also said to adopt legal remedy to expose the Vice Chancellor who for the sake of his daughter cancelled the entire selection process and cited absurd reasons.
