BJP 'facilitated' snatching away of UIET from JU Govt orders shifting of students to GCET Janglot 2/14/2018 10:45:46 PM Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 14: Hammering last nail in the coffin of erstwhile University Institute Engineer and Technology (UIET) that was recently 'snatched' by the State Government from University, the state Government has issued order for shifting students enrolled here to Government College of Engineering and Technology, Janglot for ongoing session. Sources privy to the development claimed that the BJP had facilitated the snatching of UIET. "A sitting, BJP Minister has played important role to deceive the Jammu University", sources said. "It was planned to adjust Minister's candidate in the UIET turned GCET, but a lobby of academicians in University didn't oblige the Minister. "In continuation to Government order no. 589-HE of 2017 dated 10/10/2017 sanction is here by accorded to shifting of students admitted in UIET campus Jammu to GCET Janglot for ongoing session 2017-18 with immediate effect", Govt order no. 82-HE 2018, of dated 12/02/2018 read. The order further read that Principal GCET Jammu shall provide all necessary logistic support to these students, till the college is made fully functional in its own campus. The UIET was established by University of Jammu last year and started courses in block, opposite Directorate of Distance Education. "Govt owned the college, when it received Rs 26 crore for Janglot College, but latter disowned it and the JU was asked to run the college on its own", sources said and added that the JU made it functional and presently 65 students are enrolled in three courses being offered at UIET. "The students have completed their first semester and now in mid-session, the state Government shifted it to another district", they added. Some senior Professors of University of Jammu have expressed their resentment over Government's move. "The University had already a proposal to establish an engineering college, and the matter again and again had been put before RUSA, but in a very dubious manner, the college has been snatched from the University", they said.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
