Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 17: The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has removed one of its Inspectors with great finesse. Reason: He was extending undue benefits to a party in a case during his deployment in a wing which looks after the corruption cases. The Inspector's seniors, after coming to know about his 'misdeeds', made a complaint against him to the PHQ. Following receipt of the complaint, the PHQ removed the Inspector and kept him attached at the PHQ without any posting for about two months. After that the Inspector was posted and deployed in the Training Centre as punishment. According to sources, the Inspector was posted in that wing of the department which investigates the bribe cases, but he started to give unjustifiable benefits to a party during his posting there. "The Inspector was investigating a particular case which was given a totally new dimension by him just for greed as he earned a lot of money from the party involved in the case. When his seniors came to know of their subordinate's acts, they immediately brought it to the notice of the PHQ," said sources. "The Inspector's seniors told the PHQ that the police officer, who was Investigating Officer of the case has deliberately weakened a crucial and important case to give benefit to the accused party due to which the police will have to face humiliation in the court. The senior police officers further said that the Inspector has managed to cover up a scandalous case," added sources. They said that after receiving the complaint, the Inspector was removed from this particular wing in June and asked to report at the PHQ on the same day. Following this development, he was kept there for nearly two months. In the meantime, a secret departmental probe was carried out against the Inspector. But this inquiry was kept as a top secret and nothing was brought out so as to avoid any kind of embarrassment for the department. After the completion of the probe, the Inspector was given posting at Training Centre a few days back. Following the issuance of his transfer order, the Inspector was immediately relived from the PHQ and asked to report at the new place of posting next day. Sources further said that the case which was being handled by the erring Inspector has been handed over to another officer who is now busy in fixing the wrongs committed by his predecessor. |
