Jammu Kashmir's crying need for statesmen over politicians: SS Bijral
8/17/2018 11:38:50 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 17: Street soul wonders how have cries of protesting employees died down; media headlines of failing governance, projects missing deadlines; stone pelters hogging headlines disappeared just with imposition of Governor's rule, S.S.Bijral former IGP, BJP state spokesperson said it explains why Jammu Kashmir's crying need is for statesmen over politicians.
Bijral said from Jan 2016 to April 2016 on CM Mufti Syed death, general mood was for Governor rule to continue instead of Mehbooba Mufti taking over to favor good governance to stressed public, striking chord with James Freeman Clarke, " A politician thinks of next election, A statesman of the next generation".
With three advisors including Mehbooba's chief secretary, governor got derailed governance back on rail, while Mehooba CM with 17 cabinet and 6 state ministers, cut a humble pie with Home Minister Raj Nath Singh ending BJP coalition partnership on governance, law and order failure front. Bijral hailed GOI decision when governance had nosedived from 15 to 21 rank. Gullible people pray Governor Rule continues till politicians pick a governance cue from statesmen like late Bharat Ratan Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Modi, Deen Dayal Upadhaya. Shyama Prashad Mukherjee and win people heart as 'sevak' like Guv Vohra- a statesman , not a 'politician' they scornfully define: 'says one thing, does another, a wolf in lamb's clothing'.
Charge sheeting Dr Farooq Abdullah Ex CM in multi crore JK Cricket scam, Guv: asked SVO to go whole hogg against corrupt elements; asked cable operators to shut Pak Islamic channels in Kashmir; strictly enforced Aadhar Enabled Biometeric Attendance System for govt employees; has gone tough on encroachments over 18 lakh kanals govt land; announced long deferred Panchayat, ULB elections in Oct - Dec 2018 reviving grass root democracy; 150 bungalows occupied by politicians, others got vacated; disposed off 9866 complaints/ grievances including previous receiving till August 9626 with 357 remaining under process.
Endorsing Socrates,"I cannot teach anybody any thinking, I can only make them think," Bijral exhorted politicians let's ponder: 'are we practicing 'nar seva Narain seva?' Bijral said let this be a lasting tribute to late Atal Ji, great 'Bharat Spoot' loved by all.
