Tantrums, threats have no effect; former advisors running short of ideas
Madam is not the boss, PDP rebels calling shots

Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 18: Only 15 MLAs accompanying the former chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to attend the last rites of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi is clear indication that Peoples Democratic Party has split.
Sources told Early Times that PDP had made desperate attempts to make the rebels accompany them so that the Madam could prove that she is the Boss and others don't figure anywhere. "Frantic calls we made to persuade the PDP rebels to join her but they refused," sources added.
They said that the group of PDP rebels led by Imran Raza Ansari would have to strive harder and get support of a few more rebels to stake claim that the group represented by him is the real PDP. "The strength of Mehbooba Mufti led PDP has been reduced to half and her party stands at the crossroads. Had she not promoted family raaj she would have been in a better position today," said a politician.
He said that it looks like that new government would be at place soon and the legislators who at present are supporting Mehbooba Mufti may also turn their coats if they are able to strike a better deal with Imran.
An insider revealed that Mehbooba had even projected the senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate and had got it conveyed to the rebels that she won't be a part of the government. All her family members resigned from the top party posts to woo the rebels. "But nothing has worked and Mehbooba too has accepted that her party has been divided into two. The so-called advisors of the former Chief Minister have disappeared from the scene as none of them were elected representatives. Despite they managing their entry through the backdoor in the party they used to call the shots and run the government," the insider added.
He said that the family members of Mehbooba Mufti used to claim that they are defacto chief ministers. "Madam had no time to meet the elected legislators, whom she is trying to woo today. She has realized the importance of numbers after losing the power," the insider added.
It may be recalled that after BJP pulled out from the PDP led government in June this year Mehbooba Mufti raised hue and cry about attempts being made to split her party. She had even threatened that if her party is split more Salahuddins and Yasin Maliks would be born. Her irresponsible statements had led to a sedition case being filed against here in an Ambala court. "Mehbooba Mufti threw all the tantrums she could during the past two months but nothing worked. Attending late Vajpayee's funeral along with the 15 MLAs was aimed at telling New Delhi that she is not alone," said an analyst.
