India's education system in peril

A strong education system is
the cornerstone of any country's growth and prosperity. Over the last decade, India has made great strides in strengthening its primary education system. But still the overall system of education in India is faulty and outdated. Even after the seventy one years of independence, the standard of education in our country is not up to the mark and thus has many bottlenecks. A defective education system is the main hurdle in the any nation's development and social transformation. India needs improvement in terms of delivering quality education and for that the system of education needs drastic improvement. A country can only prosper and grow if its education system is without any flaw. A sound education system is the very foundation and backbone of a developed country. But very ironically, India is still developing, one of its reasons is that the parameters and the standard of education is not so sound and apt and is also far behind many developed countries like USA, Russia, Australia, France and many more. Without a proper education system, a country can't develop. The educated citizens can bring the real development in a country. That is why all the developed countries spend major of the GDP on the health and education sector. In India, only 75% students have enrolled themselves in the formal education system.
Compared to the developed country, these numbers are not good enough. In the developed countries the statistics are above 90%. It has also been highly witnessed in our country that the teachers are not too much skilled as far as the teaching philosophy and methodology is concerned. These days' private institutions are mushrooming up in every nook and corner of our country. These private schools and colleges have an eye on money with least regard to the quality education. These private schools, institutions and college have become now business hubs under the garb of delivering quality education to the students. Their motto is to amass huge amount of wealth only and nothing else. This sort of mindset up needs to be changed by the owners and bosses of these private schools at the earliest for the interest of the country. Another factor which made the system of education faulty is the low remuneration of the private school teachers. Salary can be seen as the motivation factor for the teachers in delivering best knowledge to the students. It has come to the limelight that the private institutions and schools are not giving handsome salary to their teachers which is very sorry state of affairs. Less salary made teachers dejected and depressed. This might led to the deteriorating standard of education system of our country. Moreover, the system of rote learning or cramming by the students cannot be forgotten and overlooked. This has also created imbalance as far the standard of education in any country is concerned. Declining standard of education in the rural areas has also been the topic of hot debate these days.
The standard of education in the rural areas is worsening day by day. The government schools are lacking the basic infrastructure like hi-tech labs, digitalized class rooms, upgraded and modern libraries, best transport system, digital classrooms etc. These amenities if provided by the government would contribute immensely in the development of the state and in the long run to the country as well. Most of the population in India stays in the rural areas. That is why the policymakers should focus more on rural education. If the major portion remains unattended, India will never be able to become a superpower in 2021. Few steps if taken in the right way can definitely bring a sea of change in the education system of our country. The government and the universities need to take some positive steps in this direction so that the country's future could be saved. All the major colleges and universities in India follow the backdated syllabus, which doesn't fit into the modern world scenario. Because of this backdated syllabus, Indian students are not able to secure a good place in the leading world-class organizations. To improve the colleges in India, the university authorities and the government should focus more on the research and development of the syllabus. The syllabus should talk about the modern world and students should also focus on relevant case studies to improve colleges in India. The conventional education system doesn't have a career-focused approach. The modern world has changed completely, and the lifestyle of the modern people has also changed. The formal educational organizations should provide technical education at a basic level. Skill based education will help the students, who belong to the lower class of the society. Previously a student had to complete his higher studies to get a good job. If skill-based education can be introduced at the basic level, the students can collect fund to continue with their studies. Most of the people in India are not educated enough, that is why they don't encourage their children to get education.
It is very important to educate the parents in India so that they stop forcing their child to drop out from schools and colleges. The concept of smart classes can also go a long way in delivery quality education in such a manner where a student can examine things very correctly, easily and sharply. The teachers should be trained on a regular basis. The governing authority should also consider the students feedback and reviews about their teachers. This will help the teacher to provide good quality education. Last but not the least is that the government should focus on proving health and nutrition education to the students at a basic level. The teacher should also provide good quality doubt clearing support to the students. These things will help the students to overcome their weakness. These small things can be done to improve the current education system in India which is also the need of the hour. Then and only then our Prime Minister Narinder Modi's dream of "India to be a superpower in 2020" can be envisaged.
