10/19/2018 10:47:51 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Oct 19: With BJP making tall claims of equitable development in all three regions of the state at top of its voice for over three years that it stayed in power, the fact of the matter is that over 75 percent of the incomplete developmental projects in the state lied in Jammu region.
As per official figures, there are around 2200 development projects lying incomplete in Jammu and Kashmir, of which 1500 fall in Jammu region, thus exposing the claims of the BJP. As per the official details of Planning and Development department, the highest number of projects are lying incomplete in Poonch district of Jammu region, which require a funding of Rs 1113 crore. The highest number of development projects-1636 are pending in Public Works Department, followed by Public Health Engineering Department-243, Rural Development Department-147, Education-114, and Health-105.
"A number of these projects had started way back in the 1990s. These projects require over Rs 3,500 crore for completion" an official of Planning and Development Department, said.
Similarly, ahead of the assembly elections, the BJP was claiming of discrimination with Jammu region, the ruling party had maintained silence on these issues during their rule.
The BJP did not fail to deliver on the development front alone. The party backtracked from its promises with Ladakh. The demand for the Union Territory status was part of BJP during their election campaigning for Parliamentary and Assembly elections. The BJP had also pushed to rename the state as 'Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh (JKL)' to appease the voters of that region ahead of Assembly elections.
The BJP had demanded an impartial probe into all appointments made by the Jammu and Kashmir State Public Service Commission (PSC) during last three years. The Mehbooba Mufti led government had refused to declare holiday on the birth anniversary of late Maharaja Hari Singh despite BJP's demand to save its face in Jammu region.
