In Srinagar, Hurriyat protests are allowed but not Dussehra function!
New Delhi takes serious note of 'Govt negligence'

Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 19: As if the sentiments of Kashmiri Pandits hold no value in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that the community was not allowed to celebrate Dussehra function in their homeland while New Delhi has taken serious note of the matter.
For the past few years, Kashmiri Pandits would celebrate Dussehra at the TRC Ground in the summer capital of Srinagar as the location was seen "secure from the security point of view."
But this year the community was not allowed to hold the event at their place of choice.
Sources said the state government especially the Jammu and Kashmir Police had "secretly resolved" to avoid allowing the community to host Dussehra celebrations.
Sources said the official machinery found that the celebrations would put administration to "unnecessary burden."
A prominent Kashmiri Pandit body, Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti (KPSS) has already rued government and the entire administration for showing cold shoulder in organising the celebrations across Kashmir region.
"Since year 2007 KPSS organized the Dusshera Celebrations in Kashmir Valley which showcased the composite culture of the Kashmiri Society as this function was more peoples function than just a religious one, as people from all walks of life used to attend the same with zeal and zest. But this year i.e. 2018, KPSS could not organize celebrations of Dushera in Kashmir Valley, for the reasons that the Government showed cold shoulder to us," the KPSS had told reporters here.
Ironically the Pandit community was not allowed to burn effigy of Ravana in the same city where anti-national forces like Hurriyat conference are allowed to hold anti-India events.
In the last around one month, the police allowed Hurriyat to hold at least two anti-national events in the summer capital of Srinagar.
"If separatists are allowed to hold anti-India protests and are even provided police protection for the same, why were Kashmiri pandits not allowed to celebrate Dusshera. And why didn't administration take requisite measures," said a senior official.
Meanwhile the sources said Union government has taken a serious note of the alleged callousness of the state administration towards the sentiments of the Pandit community.
