Congress wins MC Banihal, BJP MC Batote ; MC Ramban witnesses hung mandate

RAMBAN, Oct 20: Today counting of Municipal Election (MC) 2018 for three MCs including MC Ramban, MC Banihal and MC Batote held in District Administrative Complex Ramban under foolproof security and other arrangements.
The counting was started at 9 AM under the supervision of, DEO, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, General Observers, Suram Chand Sharma, Kapil Sharma, ROs, AROs and Micro observers whereas SSP Ramban, Anita Sharma monitored all security arrangements.
In district Ramban, out of 21 seats Congress secured 10 seats, BJP secured 6 seats whereas 4 seats were clinched by Independent candidates and in MC Ramban the election in ward no 2 was countermanded due to the natural death of BJP Candidate Azad Singh Raju whereas two female candidates elected for each three municipalities of district.
Pertinent to mention that the election was held in three phases in which three congress candidates from MC Banihal of ward no 3, 6 and 7 were declared winner unopposed.
In MC Ramban out of seven municipal wards congress registered victory in ward no 5, Mohd Khalid Wani and in ward no 7, Gopal Krishan Raina while BJP registered victory in ward no 1, Nisha Rani and in ward no 4, Sunita Kumari whereas independent were declared winner in ward no 3 Amit Bharti and in ward no 6, Raj Kumar.
In MC Banihal all the seven wards were won by Congress candidates, in ward no 1 Shahida Begum, ward no 2 Ashok Kumar, ward no 3 Reyaz Ahmed, ward no 4 Masrat Banoo, ward no 5 Mohd Sharief Gania, ward no 6 Prince Jahangir and ward no 7 Farooq Ahmed Wani.
While in MC Batote out of seven municipal wards BJP won four wards including ward no 2, Kewal Krishan, ward no 4 Madan Lal ward no 5 Rekha Sharma and ward no 6 Ravinder Singh whereas Independent Candidates registered victory in 2 wards which include ward no 1, Shadiqa Babar and ward no 7, Mohd Rahil Malik while congress wins in ward no 3 Sharukh Bhatti.
