Congress turns radicals, supports Shah Faesal
Right to self-determination

Early Times Report
srinagar, Jan 11: Unbelievable. No one had ever imagined that the Congress, which claims day and night that it is an all-India organization committed to upholding Indian Constitution, protecting Indian sovereignty and defeating separatism based on religious fanaticism, will support the known votary of right to self-determination, Shah Faesal, the 2010 IAS topper from Kashmir, but it has happened. The Congress has not only shared the concerns as expressed by Shah Faesal but also suggested that the would will notice his cry of anguish.
And it was none other than Sonia Gandhi's right hand man and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram who on behalf of the Congress endorsed the outrageous views of Faesal. He termed the resignation of Shah Faesal, the first Kashmiri IAS topper, from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) "sad" and said that "the world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance".
"Though sad, I salute Shah Faesal IAS (now resigned). Every word of his statement is true and is an indictment of the BJP government. The world will take note of his cry of anguish and defiance," the former Home and Finance Minister Chidambaram said. What the Congress leader said would be used by Pakistan and other anti-India forces in Kashmir to beat India from right and left.
Earlier, the Congress leader had said that Kashmir had a unique history, unique geography and unique problem that needed a unique solution. He had also said as Union Home Minister that solutions which are applicable to other states of the Union could not be replicated in Kashmir. He had also opposed the application of AFSPA in Kashmir and vouched for pre-1953 politico-constitutional status for Jammu and Kashmir. The statement of the Congress leader would further complicate the situation in the state in general and Kashmir in particular and harm not only the interests of Jammu and Ladakh but also the nation as a whole.
Shah Faesal on Thursday quit the coveted service in protest against what he called "unabated killings in Jammu and Kashmir and against the marginalization of Indian Muslims by the Hindutva forces, reducing them to second class citizens".
After topping the civil service exam in 2010, Shah Faesal was allotted the home cadre of Jammu and Kashmir. He served as District Magistrate, Director of School Education and Managing Director of the state-owned Power Development Corporation. Even while in service, he had abused Indian political system and criticized New Delhi's Kashmir policy. And only last week, he went to the extent of advocating right to self-determination for Kashmiris and asked New Delhi to grant to the people of Kashmir the right to say and do what they wanted to say and do.
