Hurriyat leader under NIA scanner continues to enjoy security
2/19/2019 11:41:10 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 19: Even as the central and the state governments have been claiming that security of Pakistan's stooges in Kashmir has been withdrawn in the wake of deadly car bomb attack on the CRPF, some of the top separatist leaders who are already under scanner for terror-funding from the Pakistan continue to enjoy police protection.
A senior official told Early Times that security of a top Hurriyat leader from Budgam has not been removed though he was under the scanner for funding from Pakistan and other anti-national activities.
Sources said the Raj Bhawan decided to go ahead with the security of the said leader and his family members.
The residence of the said leader had already been raided by the National Investigation Agency several times in connection with the terror funding while some documents were also seized from his residence.
Though the said leader has been close to both Hurriyat (G) and Hurriyat (M) he is inclined to the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq faction. While the security of his leader Mirwaiz has been removed, the government has avoided removing security of this leader and his family.
Sources said atleast two members of this Agha family from Budgam enjoy police protection and that more than five police vehicles are also at their disposal.
Sources that government continues to offer the latest of the vehicles including "bullet proof SUVs" for the said leader and his family.
Sources said even though the leader was listed in the names of separatists whose security was to be removed, the government decided not "annoy him."
It was reliably learnt that the Hurriyat leader has been assured by BJP leaders close to the corridors of power that his security wouldn't be removed at any cost.
Some of the officials in the administration are upset with the development. "This is really unfortunate that the government has been defending some of the Pakistan stooges that too at a time when the nation has been in a state of bereavement in the wake of terror attack on the CRPF," the official said.
Despite repeated attempts the concerned couldn't be contacted for comments.
