BJP, Congress leaders made false promises: Gangyal residents tell Munish
Mass Contact Programme Continues
6/21/2019 11:36:27 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 21: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta, who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly election as Independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency on Friday conducted an extensive tour of Ganyal Garden, Kashmiri Colony of Gangyal as a part of his mass contact programme.
During his visit to these localities, the residents informed Munish Gupta about the basic problems being faced by them for the past many years, particularly poor sanitation, dilapidated roads, lanes and by-lanes and choked drains. "Neither Congress, nor BJP leaders paid any heed towards our problems after winning the elections," locals told Munish.
People of these localities criticized the callous approach of local Corporator, Baldev Singh Billowaria and former MLA Kavinder Gupta who they said, "failed to take up the development work. He (Kavinder Gupta) made several promises before election over development of the locality but after getting elected, he never fulfilled his promises on ground level."
"Most of roads are in dilapidated condition. Drains are blocked due to these not being connected with sewerage nallah, safaikaramchari comes once in three days to collect littered garbage", said Veena Kumari and Nisha Devi.
She informed Munish Gupta that during the Municipal Corporation election the local Corporator promised us that "your drains would be covered with iron grilling so that commuters could walk in congested lanes but after getting elected, he forgot his promises," she added.
Manju residing in Andhari Gali of W.No. 56, Gangyal told Munish that the only streetlight was installed in the area by JMC year ago. "This streetlight too has turned defunct. Our repeated pleas to restore this defunct streetlight have fallen flat into deaf ears," she added.
Rakesh Kumar and Makhan Lal residing in Sector No. 1 of Gangyal told Munish that "our lanes and drains are in dilapidated condition besides the problem of leakage of water supply pipes. The poor sanitation, blocked drains are common problems that plague the locality. Safaikaramchari don't visit regularly which leads to stink emanating from the garbage," they added.
Vashu Dev Khafla, Durga Devi, Anita and Sonia been residing in Gangyal Garden near the Shiv Mandir, complained that despite repeated pleas to they were not enrolled in voter list.
Dileep Kumar informed that a transformer was installed by PDD just at his home entrance. The live electric wire has turned into death trap. "We have raised the matter with PDD officials on several occasions, but no action has been taken so far,'' said Bharat Bushan Moza and added that when PDP leader visited our lane we asked him to relocate it or get it fenced with wire but he also couldn't do anything.
