Jammu, Sept 3 : When the families and relatives of the three murdered girls were holding an anti-police protest outside Kalakote police station in Rajouri today, they were attacked by a man with a sharp edged weapon. In the attack, one person, who was spearheading the protest, sustained injuries. Not satisfied with the police way of functioning in the case, the protesters were demanding a CBI probe. Talking to Early Times, Raj Kumar, an ex-serviceman, who was hurt in the incident, said they had lost faith in police as nothing had so far been done by them to work out the case.  “We have constituted a committee to lead the agitation for justice and I am head the committee. Today around five hundred persons of our community gathered at Kalakote and called on the tehsildar. Later, we moved towards the Kalakote police station”, he said, adding that when they were protesting outside the police station, they were attacked. He alleged that the police also did not take any notice of this assault. “During the month long investigation, we have understood that police instead of digging up the mystery has been trying to hush up the matter,” he said and asked why the autopsy of the bodies of Urmila and Nishu was not conducted. “It seems that no one on the part of administration is willing to provide justice. Even, not a single person from police has visited victims’ families,” said the ex-serviceman, demanding a CBI probe.  He also denied the reports that the girls were murdered allegedly by one Sanjay who later shot himself. He also sought the intervention of the local MLA to seek justice. “We have no complaint against the MLA but some goons may damage his image as we are being attacked in full public view”, he said.  “We don’t want politics over the death of our daughters. We are seeking mass support for the cause,” he added. Brother of murdered girls, Bashinder Singh informed that they have submitted a memorandum to tehsildar, Kalakot.,”If the CBI inquiry is not ordered, we will intensify our agitation for justice” he added.  However, SHO Kalakot and SSP didn’t pick their cellphones despite repeated attempts. Simlilar protests were witnessed in Nowshehra town and Kalakote. Agitating people scuffled with SDPO Nowshera and demanded suspension and registration of a case against SHO Kalakote. On the assurance of district administration protest was called off and the memorandum of demands was submitted to DC Rajouri through Tehsildar Kalakote. The protest was led by Vidhi Sngh retired ZEO.
