Omar’s nod to enhanced power supply to Jagti camp : Too little too late! | | | Sandeep Bhat
Jammu, Sept 3 : Omar’s direction to the Power Development Department to enhance power supply to the Jagti Migrant Camp where inmates fumed during peak scorching summer months is being seen as an attempt to woo KPs ahead of elections that has further infuriated them. Inmates are questioning Omar’s indifference at a time when they were forced to face long power cuts at a time when temperature was hovering well above 45 degrees and children and the elders were the worst sufferers. “Umpteen representations and repeated requests to the government to improve power supply to the camp were ignored without even consideration and now when the weather has started to change, the CM has directed enhanced power supply” said an elderly inmate. Inmates are particularly anguished with Vijay Bakaya, NC MLC, who today met the Chief Minister and urged for enhancements of power supply to Jagti Township. “Was he unaware of the plight of the inmates all these months or is he now eyeing votes for his party?” asked another inmate expressing his anger. “ This is the person who opposed the kounsar nag yatra and gave irresponsible statement in a local daily of Kashmir, thus hurting the sentiments of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits, now trying to play the vote bank politics” he added. KPs are also irate over the manner in which this government shelved the kashmiri Hindu shrines and temple bill. Rajesh Bhat, a business man said, “this is the government which promised that the kashmiri Hindu shrines and temple bill will be passed but at the eleventh hour, they not only ditched the community but also played with their emotions and sentiments”. |
