Husband thrashes wife when asked over his ‘illicit relations’
Amid allegation and counter allegations- counter FIRs registered

Jammu, Sept 3 : In a bizarre case of domestic violence, a woman was hospitalized at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) for treatment of injuries sustained during reported thrashing by her husband when she objected his illicit relationship. Meantime the both sides amid allegations and counter allegations have foiled FIRs against each other at Police Station Domana. According to reports, the victim Anita Devi, d/o Karan Singh of Miran Sahib married to Mohan Singh Slathia presently posted with Crime Branch (Police) who is resident of Nagbani some 17 years back and the lady owing to some medical complicacies failed to conceive and thus was subjected to mental and physical tortures by her husband.
The family members of the lady claimed that there were unconfirmed reports that Mohan Singh married to a divorcee lady hailing from Bilawar after his court marriage but without consent of first wife. At the same time he hushed up his court marriage while introducing the lady to his first wife just as a ‘domestic help.’
“Anita Devi while cleaning her room accidently found the documents regarding court marriage of the duo, sources said adding, “and she questioned her husband Mohan Singh about the legality of documents, who in fit of rage thrashed Anita and even threatened her of life, if she disclosed it to anyone.
However fed up of routine heated argument and thrashing, Anita left home and came to her parental place at Miran Sahib and also lodged her complaint with Women Cell.
As the Women Cell initiated its procedure to counsel both parties to patch-up, the Mohan Singh during counseling called Anita and requested her to forget all previous issues and join them for function at his residence where they will solve all old confrontations, without any outer interference.
Sources also added that Anita was severely tortured by her in-laws when she went for compromise at their place. They alleged that Anita Devi was taken to Akhnoor in a Bolero with an intention to kill her.  However the parents of the Anita got report about it and they immediately contacted Police Station Domana, wherein FIR was registered. Meanwhile the other side (Mohan Singh) also has lodged a compliant countering the FIR registered against him countering the allegations leveled against him byhis in-laws.
Earlier parents of Anita had filed complaint against Mohan Singh and other in-laws, namely Prabhat Singh, Swarno Devi, Madan Singh, Neelam Kumari, Pushpa Slathia and Swaran Singh for allegedly attempting to murder their daughter.
The victim Anita Devi presently is undergoing treatment at GMC&H, wherein doctors registered MLC of the victim while parents of victim have also approached J&KL Human Rights Cell (JKHRC) for seeking justice for their daughter.
SHO Domana, Jai Pal Sharma, when contacted by Early Times said both the parties have filed complaint with the police station and investigation has been started after registering counter FIRs.
