Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 3 : Fearing backlash from the National Conference high command, Shiekh Ishfaq Jabbar the NC leader from Ganderbal today took a U-turn and denied that there is any tussle in the party.
Jabbar’s supporters had raised anti-NC slogans during a party convention at Beehama Ganderbal on Tuesday and had demanded mandate for Jabbar.
While commenting over the tussle and NC Provincial  President Nasir Aslam Wani kicking a NC worker, Ishfaq said, “The event was given unnecessary attention and media created hype out of nothing. You can see this type of situation in every party.
There could be somewhere the misconception but you cannot term the same as fissures. We are one and NC is my home.”
Talking to Early Times on Aug 24, 2014, Jabbar had said, "My supporters want me to contest the forthcoming elections from Ganderbal and they are already making the preparations for it."
Asked if Omar decides to contest from Ganderbal would he support him (Omar), Jabbar said, "If such a situation arises I will go back to my supporters and will seek their opinion. Whatever they decide, I will follow it."
He had claimed that 80 percent of the youth in Ganderbal are with him and he would emerge as winner from the turf.
Asked would he contest as an independent candidate if NC drops him, Jabbar said, "Till now I have not been dropped. If I don't get the mandate we will see."
However, Ishfaq today took a U-turn and told a local news agency that he would support the NC President Omar Abdullah, if he decides to contest from Ganderbal.
Meanwhile, NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani while commenting on kicking issue said, “Media gave unwanted attention to the kicking issue and sensationalized the same without any reason.”
