Samba, Sept 3: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) today organised financial literacy camps here at Smailpur ,Purmandal of Samba district. According to press release, the programmes were organized by the District Development Manager of NABARD, Surinder Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Singh apprised that these programmes were organised under the "Pradhanmantri Jan DhanYojna". The main aim of programe was eradicating financial untouchability by providing bank accounts to the poor. "Elaborating the benefits under PMJDY, he said this was not a mere bank account, but had other benefits including RuPay debit card, Rs 1 lakh accident insurance cover, and an additional 30,000 life insurance cover for those opening bank accounts before January 26th, 2015" Singh said and added that the account performance would be monitored and overdraft facility would be given. Meanwhile, S L Sharma, FLC, discussed in detail about the procedure and documentation required for opening of accounts and also discussed about the importance of having a bank account, advantages of saving with banks, other facilities provided by banks and benefits of borrowing from banks. |
