APSCC condemns postponement of Gurudwara elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 3: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has condemned the further postponement of Gurudwara management committee elections. According to press release, they said that it was another act of government which showed their non-seriousness towards the demand of Sikh community. Lashing out on the government convenor of APSCC, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that it was very unfortunate that government is not abiding by the law of land, and is itself breaching its own compiled acts. "This government is hell bend to put Sikhs to sufferings and this time it is the height of their oppression and injustice. Government should come clean about their policy towards minorities living here. Once again, sikhs were betrayed and this regime should understand that hoodwinking Sikhs would lead them to slumber", they said. Raina said that this time every Sikh individual is ready hit the streets and agitate against the present regime and APSCC will spearhead the agitation. They should understand that it is our right and no one has power to keep our issues lingering. Sikhs will protest and it will shake the government and the rulers. They should understand that government work for people, but unfortunately, their anti-people policies will be destructive for them. This time no excuse will be accepted. Government seems to be failing on every front and GPC elections postponement is its glaring example. Since 2008 elections are getting postponed and further ignorance on the part of government will be disastrous for whole community. Raina said that it is sheer breach of law and governments own notifications. Financial commissioner has already issued notification for conducting election. District administrations had already geared up for conducting elections, notifications were displayed and applications were invited for nominations, even were filed by some candidates. Manifestos were formulated even distributed by candidates. Sikhs were ready to choose their representatives on 15th of September and this action on the part of government has generated a wave of anger against the present rulers. APSCC demanded an independent inquiry to be setup over this issue and people involved in postponing of elections should be brought to justice as soon as possible. |
