AKHNOOR, Nov 6: Singh Cricket Club today registered an outright victory against another team from the town, Street Warriors Akhnoor, beating latter by 121 runs to make their entry into the final in style, here. Now, in the title clash, to be played on a later date, Singh Club shall take on New Challenger Club. Earlier, in the semifinal, played at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here, Singh Club won the toss and batting first set a target of 170 runs losing nine wickets. Sunil Sharma played fine innings of 31-ball 50 runs including three sixes and five fours while Chandan Sharma contributed 17-ball 31 runs to the total. Sumit Rajput (15) and Chander Kiran (14) also made valuable contributions. From Street Warriors, Jadwinder Singh emerged as most successful bowler with four wickets, followed by Aman and Ubay, who shared two each. Krishan Pal took one wicket. In reply, Street Warriors could not face the calculated bowling from Singh Club thereby made a meek surrender with just 48 runs on the board in 14.3 overs. Sourav Chandel was top scorer with 26 runs while Jadwinder Singh added nine runs. Asif Baba took three wickets while Sonu Malhotra and Dilawar Singh shared two each from Singh Club. Sham Singh Langeh, Binny Kesar and Pankaj Verma were other wicket takers. For his brilliant half century, Sunil was obvious choice for the man of the match title. Today's semifinal officiated by Vikas Bali and Rajinder Sharma as umpires while Manik Sharma was scorer.
