Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 6 : Flaying the coalition government for its alleged six year misrule in the state, NPP chairman and MLA Harsh Dev Singh today accused the present dispensation of setting the allegedly most dubious record of mis-governance, non-performance, corruption, lack of accountability and a highly fractured work culture in the state.
Addressing a public rally at Balpur Majalta, he said the ruling alliance had utterly failed to live up to the expectations of the common man and had thrived purely on deceptive slogans and false promises. He said that though the resentment had brewed against the present government in all three regions of the state, Jammu region in particular had suffered immensely during the last six year coalition rule in all spheres.
Lashing out at the Congress-NC government for what he described as persistent neglect and deprivation of Jammu region, Harsh claimed that NPP alone could salvage Jammu Pradesh and ensure restoration of its lost glory and pride. Urging upon the general masses to vote and support NPP, he said it alone could end the policies of bias and prejudice in various fields being pursued against the Dogra land by successive state governments.
He strongly flayed the BJP for creating a communal divide during the last Parliamentary elections with the sole objective of promoting their political prospects. He said that BJP-led government at the Centre had utterly failed to respond to the concerns of Jammu region despite its loud pronouncements and was pursuing the policy of Kashmir's appeasement.
He said that the PM's visit to Kashmir to celebrate Diwali there followed by announcement of a financial package for the said region spoke volumes about the prejudiced mind set of the BJP-led government and its total disregard for Jammu. He urged upon people to remain vigilant against nefarious designs of divisive and communal forces.
Harsh reiterated his party's resolve to strive for equitable treatment to all regions of the state with removal of all regional imbalances, ensuring due share to Jammu and Ladakh regions. He said that Jammu Pradesh needed to be compensated in terms of development projects, funds allocation, employment, road connectivity, tourism, health and power sector.
Castigating the Jammu-based ministers for playing s second fiddle to Kashmir leadership, he said that they had bartered away the interests of Jammu region for petty political gains.
He said it was NPP alone which had proved its mettle in various sessions of assembly and raked up all possible issues confronting the common man and exposed the government for its lapses, omissions, commissions as well as its prejudicial mind set.
Regarding the constituency-specific issues, he said that Ramnagar Majalta had been developed as a model constituency and had become a example for others to emulate.
He said that the constituency made strides in various developmental sectors including roads, power, water supply, education and rural development.
He said that several new administrative units including Sub Districts, Tehsils, Niabats and Blocks had been created in the constituency. He further made a mention of upgradation of various schools and opening of new health centres in various remote and far flung areas which had fulfilled the long pending demands of the people. He thanked the people for their overwhelming support which he said had always infused new spirit in him to work with redoubled energy and strength for mitigation of their problems.
Earlier, more than 70 workers of different political parties resigned from their respective parties and joined NPP.
Others who spoke on the occasion included MLA Yash Paul Kundal, Dhani Ram Attri, Sukhdev Singh, Basharat Ali, Rajesh Padgotra, Pushvinder Singh, Yash Paul Manhas, Gagan Partap Singh, Romesh Gupta, Rajesh Sharma, Bishan Dass, Dharam Singh and Abhinab Anand.
