Rajouri Congress leader likely to join BJP

Rajouri, Nov 6 : In an important political development former J&K Forest Minister, former independent MLA from Darhal and senior Congress leader Th Puran Singh has reportedly decided to join Bhartiya Janta Party if Congress deny candidature to him.
In this connection today a meeting of his supporters was held at his residence at village Kewal in Budhal tehsil and they extended their support to Th Puran Singh.
Reliabale sources said that Th Puran Singh has decided to contest from Darhal constituency and in case Congress denies ticket to him, he may contest as an independent candidate.
Sources further said that as BJP has not announced its candidates from Darhal constituency and BJP senior leaders are in contact with him, Th Puran Singh is likely to join BJP at Jammu very soon.
Th Ganesh , elder son of Th Puran Singh said his father has won the seat as an Independent candidate in 2002 by defeating National Conferene candidate Ch Liyakat and after supporting the Mufti Mohd's lead coalition government as leader of group of independent MLAs he became Cabinet Miniter for Forests.
He added that later Th Puran Singh joined Congress party and have been working as a dedicated leader.
"Now it is turn of the Congress party to nominate Th Puran Singh as its candidate from Darhal Constituency and if denied tickets they have decided to leave the Congress and every option is open for him including joining BJP" said Th Ganesh.
He further said that before taking any decision Th Puran Singh has decided to meet Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday at Jammu and further step will only be clear after the response from Congress Party.
Another possible candidate of Congress from Darhal constituency is Mohd Iqbal Malik who remain on second position in the 2008 Assembly election and the seat was won by Ch Zulfikar Ali by a margin of more than 4500 votes.
Political analysts are of the view that BJP is waiting for the announcement of Congress candidates from Darhal constituency. Both Th Puran Singh as well as Mohd Iqbal Malik is in the line to join BJP if any of them was denied ticket by the Congress .
