J&K braces for yet another coalition Govt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 6: Even as political experts and thew commoner want a single party government but the state is likely to witness yet another coalition ngovernment. Politicians including Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah believe that the coalition governments have not served any purpose. Omar recently criticised his coalition partner for `non-cooperation. "The Congress never allowed the coalition government to settle down," he said. It has been observed that coalition `compulsions' have ushered in an era of corruption and favouritism. The people want to get rid of the menace. "This is possible only when the state comes under oneparty rule," said a university teacher. The PDP patron, Mufti Muohamamd sayeed has repeatedly accused the NC led coalition government of not taking forward the developmental process started by his government. The PDP is also averse to coalition government. Similar voices have been echoed by BJP leadership. But, to achieve its cherished dream of ruling the state, the BJP also needs a coalition partner if it comes nearer to its much hyped mission 44 +. Since 2008 the Congress-NC coalition is been a coalition of contradictions and conflicts. The two stayed together simply out of love for power. The NC leadership tolerated some pin pricks from the Congress only because it believed that parting ways with the Congress could help the PDP to regain power.
However, political analysts firmly believe that the ensuing Assembly poll was to throw up a hung House which would warrant formation of a coalition Government. According to these analysts the NC may not hesitate in forging a post-poll alliance with the BJP simply to prevent the PDP from sharing power with the Congress. But such possibilities can arise only if the BJP win 15 to 20 seats and the Congress is forced to remain content with bagging 10 to 16 seats. |
